GUILLERMORODRIGUEZ
Addressing themes such as
intimacy, fragility and existential
decay, my work can be summarised
as the act of intertwining two
fundamental aspects: Body and
Memory. Departing from the discarded
and the banal, and conveyed trough
processes of material distress,
I make assamblages out of objects
that deprived from their original
function, re-incarnate the physical
body and its ducts of perception.
Overall, my work underlines the
challenge of humans to connect
with their inner nature and their
environment. It flourishes in the
precariousness of this relationship,
acting as a reminder of the flow of
creation and death we live in.
I am a multidisciplinary artist
based in CDMX. Born in Asturias
(Spain) in 1975, my work expands
the mediums of sculpture
and installation. My work has
been exhibited in multiple group
shows such as 'Creació Jove'
(La Capella, Barcelona),
'Mostra Union Fenosa' (A Coruña)
and Espacio Valverde (Madrid).
My first solo project 'Drawing
the Landscape' (Sala Borron, Oviedo),
had itinerancy among 3 cities.
My duo exhibition 'Of impulse'
was held at Lisa Derrick Fine Arts
in Los Angeles, in 2020.
More recently, in 2022 and 2023,
I opened my studio doors during
'Dumbo Open Studios' in Brooklyn.
